Information for visitors
Although most road traffic cases are resolved by way of a fixed penalty, the more serious matters, and those that are denied, will result in a court hearing. At Oxford Magistrates Court your hearing may be listed to take place in either the morning or afternoon session. You should be warned, however, that you may have a very long wait because the court will often hear other cases, such as those involving someone detained in custody, before they deal with their road traffic matters.
When you attend Oxford Magistrates Court you will first have to be checked by the security staff. Once this is completed you will need to make your way to the reception desk where the usher in attendance will take your name and ask you for details of your solicitor. You can then take a seat in the waiting area, where your solicitor will be able to find you, and have a final consultation with you before your hearing.
